TORTUGA SPORTFISHING AT LAS ARENAS FOR PARGOS, SIERRA, AND DORADO

Jan. 13, 2007, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

During this week of panga fishing on the Las Arenas side of La Paz, Tortuga Sportfishing had plenty of continued action on Humboldt giant squid which are still present throughout the area of Ensenada de los Muertos and Punta Arena de la Ventana.

We also had a lot of good fishing action for pargo liso or mullet snapper, pargo mulato, sierra, and some dorado of 20 to 30 pounds, which we found around Punta Perico.

The La Paz fishing area of the southern Baja California Sea of Cortez coast continued to have cool weather this week in the 60s, with clouds and a bit of rain the last three days. Today, we had winds from the north in the morning, and there was also some rain at Ensenada de los Muertos.

However, the weather cleared soon after, and we had good fishing. Our anglers are now enjoying good bottom fishing while using squid and sardina baits.

Anglers fishing at La Paz with Tortuga Sportfishing this week included Enrique Sanchez Jr. from Guadalajara who caught dorado, pargos, and sierra.
