BOATING ACTIVITY THINS OUT IN MIDSUMMER DOLDRUMS

Aug. 8, 2004, Bill Molden, San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico sport fishing:

The summer doldrums have set in. The water temps are running in the high 80s and the air temps in the mid-90s. San Carlos billfish are still spread out all over the place and in good numbers. San Carlos Dorado fishing has continued to be disappointing, with a few fish on the small size being taken.

Not many boats venturing out this week and it should continue that way till the vacationing locals and the snowbirds start returning, about the first week of Oct. The lack of fisher people is one reason the catch report is low and the fishing information gleaned is so spotty.
