STRIPED MARLIN MOVING IN CLOSER TO CABO
June 25, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Gaviota Fleet, Cabo San Lucas fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
Roberto Marquez, owner of "Fish Cabo" and "Juanita VIII" reported the fishing was picking up considerably, with the striped marlin moving closer to Cabo San Lucas.
The "Fish Cabo", reporting for 4 days, released 10 stripers and captured 2 dorado, while the "Juanita VIII" fished 5 days, releasing 8 stripers and capturing 8 dorado.
Roberto says Cabo San Lucas billfish are popping-up all over the place and the better fishing had been in front of San Jose.
The Gaviota Fleet, reporting for 76 fishing days, reflected 88 striped marlin, (71 released) 58 dorado, 4 wahoo and 6 yellowfin tuna. A good number of the boats had multiple billfish days, with Gaviota 2 being the top boat for the week with 13 stripers released for 7 fishing days, followed by the Gaviota V with 12 striper releases.
