CABO SAN LUCAS NIGHTSPOT LATITUDE 22 DAMAGED BY FIRE

July 23, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing Report:

First, we will have to wait a week or two for the fish reports from Fish Cabo & Juanita VIII, even though they will be fishing. Seems like the old, world-famous watering hole of "Latitude 22" burnt down and took with it the office of Fish Cabo, including their computers, faxes, phones, etc., all the things it take to run an office. They are in the process of cleanup and renewal at this time.

Cabo San Lucas' Gaviota Fleet reported in with a billfish for about 60% of the boats, along with a mixed bag of dorado & yellowfin tuna, with the bulk of the Cabo San Lucas fishing boats on the Pacific side of the peninsula this week. Overall catches for 35 boat days reflected 24 stripers, (17 released) 2 sailfish released, 14 dorado and 41 yellowfin tuna.

Cabo San Lucas Climate: Warm & humid, lots of cloud cover and scattered thunderstorms over the mountains, temps ranging from the mid-90's

Cabo San Lucas Sea Conditions: Temps ranged from 78 On the Jaime Bank to 81 at the Gordo Banks, with some wind chop conditions

Best Fishing Area: The Jaime Bank was best for the fleet, albeit, fish were also caught up the other way toward the Gordo.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was best for the billfish. Tuna & dorado were taken on the artificials and scattered about the area.
