SPORTFISHING FLEET CHARTER BOATS
AVERAGING ABOUT A BILLFISH PER DAY

Aug. 27, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

While the fleet averaged a billfish per boat day fished, there were still the "have" and "have nots". Cabo San Lucas water temps remained high throughout the week and the better fishing had moved out to the south of Cabo Falso. Overall catches for 23 Cabo San Lucas fishing days reflected 16 stripers, (10 released) and 6 sailfish released, 7 yellowfin tuna, and 7 dorado, for 23 fishing days.

"Fish Cabo" reported for 4 Cabo San Lucas fishing days and reflected 1 striper, 1 sailfish, 12 dorado & 14 yellowfin tuna and the "Juanita VIII" fished only a single day for 4 yellowfin tuna and 4 dorado.

Cabo Climate: On the hot side, partly cloudy, temps ranged from 76-100 degrees

Sea conditions: Warm water, ranging from 80-85 degrees, good clarity and light breezes

Best Cabo San Lucas Fishing Area: 15-20 miles south of Cabo Falso

Best Lure/bait: Live bait was best for the billfish and while a few marlin were caught on mackerel colors, the main bite was on the caballitos.

Cabo San Lucas Live Bait Supply: Good.
