FISHING TRIP REPORT FOR THREE DAYS AT
CABO SAN LUCAS ABOARD THE CHARTER BOAT EDITH II
Sept. 7, 2004, Tom Fisher, Cabo San Lucas fishing trip report, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
I was in Cabo San Lucas aug. 26th to the 31. Tom fisher, Mary Shields and our son TJ who is 3 years old. We stayed at pueblo bonito rose in Cabo San Lucas. The people there were great. I went fishing three days on the Edith 2 with Francisco The Captain and albert the first mate. Its a 33 foot sportfisher.
August 27th we went out looking for schools of porpoise and found them 30 miles from Cabo San Lucas on the pacific side. I had bought 10 baits from the pangueros, when we found the porpoise three were still alive anyway , I was adjusting the outrigger troll line farther back when a sailfish came and grabbed the blue and white zucker while it was in free spool. i pulled the rod out of the holder as I locked the spool down and Hello Sailfish. We released this approx. 80lb. Sailfish after 20 minute fight.
The first mate threw a bait and hooked Our first tuna. 30lbs. Then it was back to chasing down the porpoise. That day I landed approx. Cabo San Lucas 12 tuna to 40lbs. Mostly on feathers blue white .green black, and purple and black. Nice day.
The following day, I gave the bait boat a verbal Hey Pal veinte pesca Today. Yesterdays bait was no bueno. To no avail, but I made sure I got 10 lively bait and we were off. Hunting for the porpoise again. About 7;30 There they are about 15 miles from pacific side lighthouse. francisco got in front of the school and I threw a bait out the stern Twenty seconds Later Hello Tuna!
Wow I said this was is bigger than yesterdays fish. Two hours later we gaffed this 87lb yellowfin tuna first they used the flying Gaff then the other Wow that fish almost killed me. Fifty pound test on a shimano single speed reel. I told francisco I was spent lets go home. We weighed the fish at the dock after photo in boat. The first day I didn't bring a camera. I took a day off to spend time with family and to recuperate. Boy I was sore.
The third day was great also. I was still spent so we fished pacific side coast line for dorado. Eight 10 to 20 lbers and 11 or so schoolie tuna. What a trip.
