CABO SAN LUCAS CHARTER SPORTFISHING BOAT
GAVIOTA VIII LANDS A BLUE MARLIN AT 450 POUNDS
Sept. 24, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
The largest Cabo San Lucas fish for the week, a 450 lb. blue marlin, was taken by anglers Don Witt & Dennis Conners, Sonoita, AZ, while fishing aboard the "Gaviota VIII", with Captain Juan Dominguez. After a grueling battle of many hours, the fish came up tail-wrapped and had died. Dennis is an avid angler and the last time he was in Cabo it was a 700-plus pounder for him.
Cabo San Lucas fishing picked up quite a bit this week, especially for the dorado counts, but billfish remain a bit sluggish.
Overall Cabo San Lucas fishing counts for the fleet reflected 1 blue marlin, 3 sailfish released, 10 stripers, (9 released) 5 wahoo, 37 yellowfin tuna, 8 skipjack tuna and 98 dorado for 27 fishing days.
