CABO SAN LUCAS SPORTFISHING CAPTAINS GETTING
SECRETIVE AS THE BIG TOURNAMENT SEASON APPROACHES
Oct. 15, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja fishing, Mexico:
As we get closer to Cabo San Lucas fishing tournament times, the boats are searching more & more for the blue marlin hot spots and the skipper's are not sharing too much information about their catches, particularly the where caught and what they were caught on. With so much money hinging on the big fish for the Bisbee's Tournaments, I can't blame them for being secretive with the info.
Most of the blue's being taken at Cabo San Lucas are smaller fish and not in the 300 lb. qualifying ranges.
The hot Cabo San Lucas fishing boat for the week was the "Gaviota V", landing 3 blue marlin for 7 fishing days.
The "Fish Cabo", reporting for 5 fishing days, reflected 1 blue marlin released, 2 stripers released and 2 dorado and the "Juanita VIII" reflected 1 blue marlin released, 1 striper released and 1 sailfish released for 3 fishing days.
The overall counts for the Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet for 59 fishing days reflected 6 blue marlin, (4 released) 17 stripers, (11 released) 6 sailfish released, 4 wahoo, 6 skipjack tuna, 73 yellowfin tuna and 84 dorado.
