A 645-POUND BLUE MARLIN TOPS HEADS THE FISHING
ACTION THIS WEEK DURING THE BISBEE'S TOURNAMENT

The "Juanita VIII", reporting in for 5 fishing days, reflected 1 wahoo, 5 dorado, 8 yellowfin, 1 blue marlin released and 1 striped marlin released. Bob Campbell, Punta Gorda, Fl, captured the lst place wahoo in the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament, fishing aboard the "Juanita VIII", winning nearly $12,000.00. While the fish only weighed-in at about 35 lbs., it was the biggest taken during the event. He released 1 blue marlin on the same day.
The biggest Cabo San Lucas fish for the week and taken on the first day of the Bisbee Tournament by a lady angler, Martha McDad, fishing aboard the "Retreiver", was a 645 lb. blue marlin. As of this time, it is the Number 1 fish, with 2nd about 374 and a third place qualifier just over 300.
Overall catches for the Gaviota Fleet for the week for 65 Cabo San Lucas fishing days, reflected 1 blue marlin released 19 stripers, (12 released) 2 sailfish released, 6 wahoo, 19 yellowfin tuna, 1 skipjack tuna and 107 dorado.
Cabo San Lucas Climate: Mostly cloudy with temps 70 at night to 93 daytime highs
Sea Conditions: Wide range of temps that ranged from 78 on the Jaime Bank to 87 on the Gordo Banks. A distinct temp break on the Jaime bank went from 78 to 83.
Best Cabo San Lucas Fishing Area: The outer Gordo Banks
Best Lure/bait: Early in the week live bait was best but information was top-secret toward the end of the week, once the Bisbee started.
