SOLMAR FLEET'S WEEKLY CABO SAN LUCAS FISHING REPORT
Oct. 14-20, 2004, Benjamin Ortega, Solmar Fleet fishing, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico report:
Catch reports from the Solmar fishing fleet revealed this past week that while the billfish are in and biting, they are once again outdone by lively dorado action.
Among the marlin takers, Collin Miller of San Francisco used a live bonito to bag a 110 pound striper while fishing the Cabo San Lucas cruiser San Lucas V at the Old LightHouse
Live mullet produced a single striper and one dorado for Dallas, TX anglers Linza Jones and Cy Broussard fishing off the Old Lighthouse from the Solmar VII.
Lynal Herrera of Riverside, Calif, trolling a green lure off Whale's Head took a single striper aboard the Solmar III.
Five Cabo San Lucas dorado, all in the 35-pound class, were caught on lures by Paul and Daniel Johnson of Douglas, WY, They fished the Solmar II of Pozo Cota
The Los Arcos area gave up four dorado, all on live bait, to David Wakabayashi, of Sacramento, CA fishing the Solmar IX
Two additional Californians made the dorado list, Lisa McKeney of Oceanside and Jason Lozano of Whittier. McKeney caught three along with one yellowfin tuna fishing the San Lucas VI off Faro Viejo. Lozano also landed three dorado off Punta Gorda while fishing from the Solmar III
Top skipper of the week honors went to Adalberto Agundez of the San Lucas VI. His anglers caught four Cabo San Lucas striped marlin, 15 dorado, four jacks and three yellowfin tuna in five outings.
Total catch for the week including released fish were 23 striped marlin, six sailfish, five blue marlin, 21 wahoo, 48 yellowfin tuna, 22 jacks and 112 dorado.
