July 13, 2005, Benjamin Ortega, Solmar Fleet fishing report, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
When anglers report catching and releasing anywhere from three to five marlin in a single outing, is there a better way to express the billfish bite in Cabo San Lucas fishing vacation waters this past week?
Top fishing honors go to Rob and Amy Key of Danbury, TX, who used live mackerel in taking five Cabo San Lucas striped marlin while fishing from the Torito at the Jaime Bank.
The Faro Viejo was another hotspot, producing four stripers, all released, and eight yellowfin tuna by Ruben martin of Reno, NV., fishing on the Cabo San Lucas charter boat Solmar III.
Hai Kandes of Portland, OR, scored a hat trick in catching and releasing three stripers on live mackerel. He fished the Jaime Bank on the Solmar VII.
Edith Rodriguez of Maywood, CA, praised the crew, Mario Arballo and Manuel Pino, in helping her catch not one but two stripers in her first attempt at big game fishing. She released both fish, which were taken at the Jaime Bank.
