BLUE MARLIN BITING SHORT IN HOT, SUNNY
FISHING CONDITIONS OFF THE TIP OF BAJA

Aug. 19, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas vacation fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

There's been a lot of short-biters on the artificials with the blue marlin this week for boats fishing at Cabo San Lucas, and I would expect to see some increased catching in next week's reports.

Right now, the blues are winning, but as the full moon turns, they will start sticking to the jigs a lot better.

According to Roberto Marquez, Owner of Fish Cabo's, the blue's are still mostly the smaller fish and under 300 lbs, but that's going to change soon, as the bigger females approach the area.

Overall catches for the Gaviota Fleet at Cabo San Lucas reflected 20 stripers, (11 released) 3 sailfish released, 7 dorado and 25 yellowfin tuna for 37 boat fished days.

The "Fish Cabo I" reported 1 small blue marlin released, along with 2 stripers released for 3 fishing days and the "Fish Cabo I" reflected 2 stripers released, 3 yellowfin tuna & 1 dorado for 3 fishing days.

Cabo San Lucas fishing weather at the tip of Baja California had hot days, mostly sunny, temps from 76 nights to 102 daytime highs. Water temps ranged from 81-84 with a NW to SE temp break just outside Cabo Falso. Best fishing area at Cabo San Lucas was from 3-5 miles outside Gray Rock (Cabeza Ballena) and out to the 95 Fathom Spot. Live bait was best for the stripers but the artificials were getting slapped around by the blue's.
