FEWER ANGLERS FISHING AT CABO SAN LUCAS
DURING THE MIDSUMMER TOURIST SEASON

Aug. 26, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur fishing, Mexico:

The angler activity is slowing up a little in the Cabo San Lucas vacation area, typical of the summer fishing season. Now that Cabo San Lucas fishing waters have finally warmed up, especially for the Sea of Cortez side of the peninsula, it shouldn't be long until we begin to see more of the bigger female blue marlin moving in and about the only thing now that's holding that back is the schools of smaller tuna and dorado. Once that feed biomass moves on location, they will come.

This week, the "Fish Cabo", reporting for 3 Cabo San Lucas fishing days, reflected 4 stripers release, 1 sailfish relapsed and 1 wahoo taken.

The "Fish Cabo I", reporting for 2 fishing days reflected 3 stripers released.

The Gaviota Fleet, reporting in for 34 Cabo San Lucas fishing days, reflected 1 small blue marlin, 4 sailfish, 17 stripers, 1 wahoo and 6 yellowfin tuna.

Cabo San Lucas had hot weather, 75 degree nights to 99 daytime highs, with a heat index at 110, mostly cloudy and little effect from Hurricane Hilary

Cabo San Lucas had warm fishing waters with a distinct 3-4 degree temperature break running south from Cabo Falso, with 80 on the Pacific side and 84 on the other and warming to 86 on the Gorda Banks.

Best Fishing was scattered all over with reports from the Golden Gate Bank to the 95 and 12-15 miles outside of Cabo Real to Palmilla. Live bait was best for the billfish with a scattered wahoo and dorado taken on the trolling rigs. The live bait supply remains good, mostly caballitos.
