THREE TROLLED BAIT DORADO CAUGHT DURING A FISHING
TRIP ABOARD THE CHARTER BOAT "EL LEIDER II" AT CABO SAN LUCAS
Oct. 22, 2005, Donald Rubi, Cabo San Lucas fishing trip, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
Fishing Wednesday Oct 19th at Cabo San Lucas aboard the El Leider II on an 8 hour trip to the Pacific side produced three Dorados weighing 6 lbs, 9 lbs, and 19 lbs.
My two were the 6 and 9ers and Keith Kobet of Detroit, Michigan, landed the 19 pounder.
Eric Carson of New York City was counting his blessings after catching a 30 lb wahoo sans a steel leader. This fish shredded the bait but did not bite far enough up on the line to cut through.
In fact, all fish were caught on trolled bait, with no lures getting hit. We hooked what looked to be about a 170 striped marlin only to lose it when it tailwalked and shook its head, dislodging the hook.
We were geared up with Penn Internationals and Tiagra 50w's all sporting 50 and 80 pound test.
Cabo San Lucas seas were very rough throughout the day. The captain's name was Alex and the deck hand was Alberto, both working for Aby Charters.
All in all, it was a good Cabo San Lucas fishing day.
