SPORT BOATS FISHING ON CABO'S PACIFIC BANKS

Nov. 25, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

It was just another incredible sportfishing week at Cabo San Lucas, with the striped marlin action in full swing.

Captain Juan Dominguez, skipper of the "Gaviota VIII" has reported a total of 49 Cabo San Lucas striper releases for 12 fishing days, followed by Captain Victor Cota, "Gaviota V", with 21 striper releases for 7 fishing days.

Overall catches for the fleet for the period of November 10-23 reflected 252 stripers, (230 releases) 15 wahoo, 69 dorado 32 yellowfin tuna, with nearly all of the fish being taken at the Golden Gate Bank.

Mary Kay Godfrey and friend, Desdemona, Texas, released 14 striped marlin for 2 Cabo San Lucas fishing days aboard the "Gaviota VII" and landed three dorado for dinner, fishing aboard the "Gaviota X", with Captain Nicolas Winkler.

The "Fish Cabo", reporting for 7 Cabo San Lucas sportfishing days, reflected 17 stripers released, 4 dorado & 1 yellowfin tuna.

The "Fish Cabo I", also reporting for 7 fishing days had 9 stripers released, 6 dorado and 10 yellowfin tuna.

Cabo climate had 62 nighttime lows to 85 daytime highs, mostly sunny and warm. There were some northwesterly breezes and wind chop, but fishable and water temperatures ranging from 75 degrees at the Golden Gate to 79 at the Gorda Banks. The best fishing area was at the Golden Gate Bank. Live bait is best and the mackerel are preferred. The live bait situation is good and easily replenished at the bank.
