CABO SAN LUCAS SPORTFISHING BOAT EL TORITO HAS
A 9-MARLIN RELEASE DAY AT THE PACIFIC SIDE FINGER BANK
Nov. 24-30, 2005, Benjamin Ortega, Solmar Fleet, Cabo San Lucas fishing report, Baja Califiornia Sur, Mexico:
Emma Reyes and her fellow passengers on the Cabo San Lucas charter sportfishing boat El Torito had an excellent day catching nine striped marlin, all released, and three dorado weighing from 25 to 40 pounds at The Finger Banks.
Capt. Antonio Romero of the El Torito won our Cabo San Lucas sportfishing skipper of the week honors by a landslide for the 26 striped marlin (22 released), 21 yellowfin tuna and 20 dorado in six outings.
Mr. Spauch, with the skipper of the Solmar IX, released the three Cabo San Lucas marlin he caught on a red and yellow lure while fishing at the Gordo Banks.
Bruce Keeler of Portland, OR, who made his two-striper catch-and-release while fishing from the Solmar, using an orange and black, and black and purple lures at the Golden Gate Bank.
Two marlin were released by Michael Barrett of Chicago on live bait on the Solmar III fishing the Golden Gate Bank. Jim Carter of Kansas City fished the same spot aboard the San Lucas VI, where he released a single striper and a pair of dorado.
Cabo San Lucas fishing catches of small game species, while on the modest side, were emphasized by the five yellowfin tuna, weighing between 15 and 30 pounds, plus a pair of dorado by Robert Dorr of Dallas aboard the Solmar at the Golden Gate Bank.
San Francisco angler Jeff Shafer fished the Solmar IV at the same bank, where he caught three yellowfin and two dorado on live mackerel.
Total catch for the week included 42 striped marlin, 35 released, 41 dorado and 38 yellowfin tuna.
