CABO SAN LUCAS BILLFISH REMAIN EAGER
TO BITE FOR ANGLERS FISHING AT THE GOLDEN GATE BANK
Dec. 16, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas fishing, Baja Sur, Mexico:
The catching remains very good for most Cabo San Lucas sportfishing boats and just awesome for others, as the billfish remain on the eager bite mode.
The "Gaviota X" reported 12 striped marlin released for 4 days, "Gaviota V" had 16 for 6 days, and "Fish Cabo" had 14 for 4 days, along with 3 dorado and 5 Humboldt squid to 50 pounds. Overall counts for 37 fishing days reflected 1 blue marlin, 62 stripers, (59 releases) 10 dorado, 11 yellowfin tuna and 5 Humboldt Squid.
Cabo San Lucas weather was partly cloudy, temperatures from 60 nights to 80 daytime highs, sea conditions warmest on the Pacific side, with temperatures at 74-75 degrees from the Golden Gate and blending downward to 72 at the Gorda Banks. Golden Gate banks continues to be most productive area for the billfish but some good catches were also made near Cabo Falso drop-off. Live bait remained the hot snack of the day, both on the drift and in the feeders. Bait remained very available at Cabo San Lucas, even with the full moon.
