Happ took his 132-pound striper fishing the Cabo San Lucas boat San Lucas VI off the Old Lighthouse, and added a 29-pound dorado to his catch. Both fish were taken on live mackerel. McEwen used a green-yellow-purple-black lure and live mackerel to boat six bonito to 15 pounds, one dorado of 33 pounds and a 110-pound striper, while fishing the Solmar IV off the Golden Gate Bank. Tolsma released his marlin, and boated three yellowfin to 25 pounds fishing the San Lucas IV off Punta Palmilla.
Miraham Justin of Phoenix celebrated the New Year by catching and a pair of marlin, plus four dorado to 25 pounds, while fishing off Punta Palmilla aboard the Cabo San Lucas charter fishing boat Solmar 1. It was his first and second marlin, both being released. But he kept the dorado to eat for dinner.
