FLY FISHING ON THE PACIFIC SIDE ABOARD THE PANGA CHEER'S
Nov. 5-10, 2006, Ramon Druck, charter panga Cheer's, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
Sunday, Nov. 5th:
The Cheer's fished from 6 a.m. to 12 noon, along the beaches at Old Lighthouse and Cabo Falso and out to 2 or 3 nautical miles, returning to the arch, locations of very good fishing in these months of October and November. The fishing was very good 10 miles out from the punta of Cabo San Lucas, with water temperature good at 83 to 84 degrees, without many swells, very calm, no wind. We caught: 7 skipjack and 8 bonito of 3 to 4 pounds; 6 dorado of 15 to 20 pounds; 7 more dorado 10 to 15 pounds. Fishing on the Cheer's were some clients who come every year, for the past 13 years, Sr. Russell, Lisa Russell, and Ralph Perko.
Monday, Nov. 6th:
The Cheer's fished from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Fish count: 2 dorado of 15 to 17 pounds; 3 dorado of 10 to 12 pounds. Fished with Lisa Russell and Ralph Perko. Water temperature 83 degrees. Fishing on the Pacific Ocean on front of Faro Viejo and Cabo Falso, out to 1 or 2 miles.
Tuesday, Nov. 7th:
Six hours of fishing at Cabo San Lucas today. Fish count: 3 dorado of 18 to 26 pounds. I fished with anglers Mr. Russell and Ralph Perko. Water temperature at Cabo was 84 to 85 degrees, fishing at the arches to 5 miles north of Faro Viejo, in good water temperatures and a very calm sea.
Wednesday, Nov. 8th:
I fished with anglers Patricia Lind and William Lind, using fly fishing tackle, from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Fish count: 2 dorado, 10 bonito, and 3 barrilete. The dorado were 10 to 14 pounds. We fished along the beaches to Cabo Falso out to about 3 miles in very good conditions.
Thursday, Nov. 9th:
I fished in the morning 5 hours with excellent anglers Patty and Bill for a catch of: 2 dorado of 8 to 11 pounds; 1 tuna of 7 pounds; 1 roosterfish of 10 pounds. The water temperature was 84 degrees and we fished along the beaches on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas and out to about 2 miles. The roosterfish was caught along the beach in front of the Hotel Pacifica.
Friday, Nov. 10th:
The Cheer's fished with Patty and Bill using fly fishing tackle only for 5 hours for a catch of: 1 dorado of 12 pounds, and 2 skipjack of 6 to 7 pounds. We fished in very nice 84 degree water on the Pacific side and out to about 2 miles.
