LOCAL PANGA FISHING FOR STRIPED MARLIN AND DORADO ABOARD THE CHEER'S

Dec. 20, 2006, Ramon Druck, charter panga Cheer's, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

Fishing on Sunday:

The Cheer's departed Cabo San Lucas for fishing with 2 passengers on board who had come to visit us, one from Mexico City and the other from Italy. They shared the boat because they are old friends.

The Mexican fisherman was named Raul León and the Italian fisherman was Adolfo Rossi. With very good fishing, we had a catch of: 3 dorado weighing between 10 and 15 pounds, 1 striped marlin of 160 to 180 pounds. The striped marlin was caught with 30-pound line, a very strong animal that fought for 3 hours and 10 minutes and pulled the boat 3 miles. The Cheer's fishing was out from Faro Viejo and the marlin was caught 8 miles from there. The ocean at Cabo San Lucas had a water temperature of 84 to 85 degrees. The weather was very good, with a cloudless sky and no wind.

Fishing on Tuesday:

I left Cabo San Lucas for fishing from 6:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. with 3 passengers on board who were visiting from the Philippines, Gpeg P. Pendon and Bo Naguit. The fishing was very good for a catch of: 2 dorados weighing about 8 to 10 pounds, and 1 striped marlin of about 130 to 140 pounds. The water at Cabo San Lucas had a temperature of 85 to 86 degrees. We fished about 2 to 4 miles off the beach at Faro Viejo.

Fishing on Wednesday:

The Cheer's fished from 6:30 a.m. to 12 noon, departing Cabo San Lucas with a very cloudy sky, with the weather not very agreeable, with wind, a little chilly, and the ocean not calm. The water temperature was 85 to 86 degrees. I fished with 3 people from the United States on board, Jay Hofer, his son Jerry Hofer, and Mrs. Sandra Hofer. Although the weather was not very good, the fishing was not bad. We caught 1 dorado and 1 striped marlin hooked at about 8:30 a.m. We fished on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo San Lucas, from 2 to 3 miles out from the Hotel Solmar beach.
