BAJA KAYAK FISHING AT LA BUFADORA AND ERENDIRA
Nov. 19, 2004, Gustavo Goytia, La Bufadora, Erendira, Baja California, Mexico:
We launched on our kayaks out of La Bufadora, Ensenada. Sunday morning and paddled out 3 miles out and 3 back with 2 very large lingcod. One was 43 inches and mine was 36.5 inches, on dines!
We went to Camalu and it was really windy from the north. The pangas could not go out. We went to Colonet. The waves, with hard north winds again, were too large to get through, so we decided to head out toward Erendira. There is a great little spot. We hooked up with some rock bass, enough to get around 10 pounds each of fillets, on white scampis tipped with squid. Very nice spot. Wind was not that bad and kelp everywhere. The launch out of the cove was a bit tricky but without any problems. We did get a scare when a pod of dolphins popped up next to us. Will have to go back again!
Lots of police (12) on the scenic route from Ensenada to Tijuana, sitting on their hoods with their radar pointed at you! Be very careful and watch your speed!
