CASTRO'S CAMP SENDS 5 BOATS OUT TO FISH BAJA COAST

Dec. 26, 2004, Fernando Castro, Castro's Camp, Erendira, Baja California, Mexico:

This week, Castro's Camp had five boats go out fishing. Erendira weather during the week was very good, although we had a little bit of Santa Ana wind in the afternoons and evenings. The sea surface water temperature was 58 degrees, 6 miles from the coast, and the water color was clear blue. On Monday a Castro's Camp fishing boat went out about 6:30 a.m. and returned at 5:30 p.m., with lots of bottom fish and barracuda. They had a perfect day. The people didn't want to stop fishing, but they finally had to come in because it was starting to get dark. There were many red rockcod, lingcod, whitefish, lots of cabrilla, and many bonito and barracuda. For fishing, we are using salted sardines, frozen squid, and various types of jigs. Castro's Camp is fishing 6.7 miles from the coast, with clients from the San Diego and Los Angeles areas, including the groups of Randy Castillo and Hank Sho.
