GOOD LINGCOD CATCHES DURING FISHING TRIP BY OCEANSIDE SENIOR ANGLERS
Oct. 29, 2005, Lee Wood, Oceanside Senior Anglers, Erendira, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:
A group of 15 Oceanside Senior Anglers fished out of Castro's Camp at Erendira, Mexico, for two days Oct. 25th and 26th, with a good mixture of bottom fish.
We were fishing about four miles off the coast line, fishing in anywhere from 130 to 190 feet of water.
The first day, a group of four anglers fishing with Capt. Fernando caught about 30 lingcod of nice sizes to 15 pounds and a few reds and salmon grouper.
The second day, the same group fishing with Capt Waldo, caught many nice size reds and a few more lings and salmon grouper.
The other three boats fished with Captains Oscar and Jorge.
There was also a small thresher shark, 45-50 lbs., caught also.
The fishing water at Castro's Camp was on the cool side at 58 degrees, and the afternoon winds blew hard enough that we got wet from the spray as we were returning from fishing from about seven miles north of the camp.
The anglers that joined in this Castro's Camp fishing trip were Ed Dennis, Hal Reeser, Vern Francis, Rod Morris, Bob Porter, Jay Perry, Jerry Porter, Marvin Van Voorst, Roger Davis, Steve Long, Don Maquet, Sam Dixon, Walt Soper, George Ruble and Lee Wood.
