Here's a quick break down on the second annual Isla San Marcos Yellowtail Shootout for May 21-22, 2005. It's the same as last year's format. A benefit Yellowtail Tournament for the children and community of Isla San Marcos. Last year's tournament benefitted the church and school, and this year the COMSA company informed me it will be to benefit the kids and community. The money will be used for sporting projects, soccer, baseball and so on, and much needed equipment.
The event is slated for May 21-22. That's a Saturday and Sunday, plus a non-mandatory participant/captain meeting on Friday the 20th at 6 p.m., where snacks, drinks, instructions and rules of the event will be available. Sign-ups can be gotten by way of Alan Lewis at San Lucas Cove, or on Friday at the meeting by me, and also any one by boat before the scales open on Saturday at Isla San Marcos.
The entry fee for all participants will be the same as last year's, only $25 U.S. dollars for men, women, and kids. For those who wish a side jackpot, it is $10 per person.
Start times will be at any time people want to leave their home port, and scales open at 10 a.m. both days. The first day closing time will be a NO later than 3 p.m. at the weigh station, and 4 p.m. the second day.
Once anglers have weighed in their fish or checked in...free fish tacos. The awards ceremony will commence at 5, where there will be a raffle with door prizes, shirts, one day trips out of the San Diego landings, tackle, and even I will donate a free day fishing pass ha-ha-ha.
After that, the winner will be announced and the closing ceremony will end the event.
I hope to see people make it down for this fun event. Good fishing all!
