San Quintin, Mexico:
Slow Fishing Week With Choppy Seas

March 20, 2005, Sarai Garcia, Don Eddie's Landing, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

In San Quintin we had a slow fishing week. San Quintin fishing weather was rainy and cold with windy evenings. Air temperatures varied from 49 to 70 degrees, and sea surface water temperatures were 57 to 60 degrees. The sea off San Quintin has been choppy but fishable.

At Don Eddie's we only had four sportfishing outings this week, fishing in choppy seas, and windy conditions. Anglers mostly fished at the 180, and 240 spots. The catches were plentiful, getting limits of red rockcod, lingcod, and giant Humboldt squid. Our San Quintin anglers used frozen squid and live bait; also they used irons with frozen squid at the ends, letting their fishing lines go to the depth of 180 to 310 feet. As we complete this report on Sunday, the clouds are vanishing, there is no wind, and we are going fishing.
